WHAT KIND OF INTELLIGENCE DO WE NEED?

 INTELLIGENCE DEPENDS ON PERSONAL BACKGROUND
We differ in the speed with which we learn things and how we remember ideas. We also differ in our ability to understand ideas and to solve problems. For example, some of us can solve mathematical problems rapidly. Some of us quickly understand how machines work. Still some of us can easily learn words or a foreign language. All these abilities-and many more-are factors in what is called intelligence. There is no acceptable definition of the word intelligence. But a person is considered intelligent to the degree that he or she has the ability above.

Our intelligence depend on heredity and environment. Every person is born with certain mental capacity that influences how intelligent he or she will be an adult. The development of this capacity is influenced by the person’s background. Severely undernourished infants may be unable to develop their natural abilities. Similarly, children who are beaten or ridiculed by their parents may become so upset that their intellectual talents remain underdeveloped. Also, many children who face discrimination because of their race or nationality also fail to develop their capacities to the fullest extent possible. Other studies have shown that children have been severely neglected or have received too little mental stimulation can developed low intelligence.

The question is what kind of intelligent do we need? Although creativity and intelligent are related, some people of above-average intelligence do poorly when facing with problems that are new to them.

The very existence of autistic children-children who are of normal or high intelligence but who are; largely unable to communicate with others-was unsuspected until a few decades ago. People were, of course, aware that there were children who were cut off from the world around them; but it was assumed that they were of low intelligence.
Today autism is a recognized condition. Autistic children have been closely observed, and it has been noted that some of them display considerable artistic or mathematical ability. Autistic children sometimes exhibit high level of automatic. They are self-reliance and exhibit high level of divergent thinking or both divergent and convergent thinking.

The question is: do you know the type of child you have? Are you a parent who likes beating or ridiculing your children or other children? Are you a citizen who like discriminating others children because of their race?
Change now and move Ghana forward!
